Arizona 2014

We went to visit a dear friend in Arizona, where she is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force as an Optometrist.  So proud of her!

My entire summer consisted of watching a lot of tv (not complaining about this one), taking summer classes, volunteering, and also read Gone Girl, so this was a nice getaway before the madness of school begins.

For lunch, we tried a Angel’s Trumpet Ale House (pictured below) in downtown Phoenix, and  Olive & Ivy for Jewearly’s birthday dinner in Scottsdale, AZ.  Definitely going back to that place!  It had a nice outdoor patio, marketplace, and a delicious menu (dangit, no pictures).  Spontaneously, we also got to attend the Cardinals vs. Texans’ preseason game at the University of Phoenix Stadium!  My first football game ever and tickets were really affordable ($4.50 on stubhub)!  I definitely enjoyed it, and wish I can attend another one (not for the Cardinals) in the future.

Weekend Diary

What an eventful weekend!  I can’t express how thankful I am or the joy I’m feeling.

Starting off Friday by spending quality time with friends over good food and coffee, to my 25th birthday party at Escondite, and ending the weekend off with close girlfriends was exactly how I hoped this weekend would be!

A huge thank you to everyone who took time out to celebrate with me and made sure I had a good time; I truly enjoyed everyone’s company!!!

An even bigger thank you to Hanna Jung & Michelle Hong for also making this wonderful weekend happen without a blip!

Sorry for lack of pictures, I will post them later.

Weekend Diary

This weekend was pretty eventful:  bbq at a friend’s house + mafia = fun, and a group of us went to the yelp event held on Sunday at the Observatory in Costa Mesa.

We didn’t expect the event to be what it was (we expected more like a food fair/convention-like food booths), but it was dark, fun music, and free drinks!  The only way downside was the line for food: it was too long and unbelievably not worth it, from what others have said.  Apparently, people were only allowed one hotdog with chili, so we didn’t end up staying long stay because we were too hungry.

Weekend Diary

I took a mini-staycation (much needed rest!) by taking a couple of days off of work  and spent them very wisely (psst, watching Mad Men).

I went to a very beautiful wedding on Saturday; congratulations to Pearle & James!  It was really awesome to witness two amazing people start a journey together.

Michael and his brother, Jonathan are going to Europe for a few weeks, and will miss my birthday, so Mike decided to plan something for us to do before he left!  We spent the day brunching (@Rialto), watching Aziz Ansari’s Dangerously Delicious stand-up and Mad Men (!!!).  Then we had dinner at Agora Churrascaria.  We got there pretty early and I didn’t want the salad bar traffic so we decided to sit in the back.  If I do decide to go there again, I’d definitely not sit in that area because the servers weren’t coming around to us.  They were serving the closer tables first and by the time they made their rounds, there was no food left for us.  After the restaurant started to fill up is when they started to come to our table. Other than that, food + wine was delicious.  We ended up at Heroes Bar & Grill after many searches and attempts to find a place to hang out at (forgot it was Monday, lots of places aren’t open after 9pm).

It was very nice to relax, and thank you so much Michael for everything!!

Weekend Diary

This weekend was definitely relaxing, which I needed.  It’s not even about TGIF anymore, I’m talking about TGIANRH (Thank God/goodness/gosh it’s a Nationally Recognized Holiday)!  I should start a movement.

Whenever people discuss the latest episode of any tv show that is so hot right now, I can’t relate/input anything because I haven’t been watching tv.  I used to be a tv-holic, but I have no interest.  I’m hooked on Friends again.  I saw one episode of Parks & Rec and it’s really funny!  Yet, I know I will go home and look forward to hanging out with my friends.

So when you are discussing the funniest moment in Modern Family/Parks and Rec/The Office/30 Rock, the unexpected twist in Breaking Bad/Walking Dead,  just know I will be joining, laughing, and acting interested, but won’t understand a thing (so don’t ask me, “do you know what we’re talking about?/did you watch this episode?  Because I will be mad at you for embarrassing me and calling me out, haha.  Then proceed to throw out a bunch of Friends’ references and change the subject, yay!).  If I overhear a quote or someone mention Whitney or Chelsea Handler’s jokes in a good light, well, I don’t know how we ever had anything in common in the first place.

Weekend Diary

The Real Marriage Conference was really good and insightful.  Today’s the start of another week and I was reminded of what Mark Driscoll said:  “As you dress yourself in the morning, dress yourself in humility.”

After the conference, the group of us went to Slater’s 50/50 but the wait was so long, we opted for Habit Burger, and it was completely satisfying!  I’m thinking of possibly getting it again tonight… Haha

In other news, the superbowl game was very exciting and I’m happy to say that the Giants won!
